Wet Cyanotypes
‘Wet’ Cyanotypes are created with liquids and bubbles placed onto the arranged cyanotype during the exposure process. The wet processing allows the chemistry to develop while exposing, which produces the brilliant hues of blue and varying textures seen below.
Original Prints
While this process creates amazing organic designs, it is much harsher on the plant specimens we use, so each subject will only be used in a limited set of works. This makes each original print a special portrait of the plants around the Pacific Northwest.

Hydrological Maps
These ‘Hydrological Maps’ showcase the river systems at the state, basin, and continental levels. Each blue line represents an individual river and is scaled to symbolize the amount of water flowing through the stream relative to the regional aridity.
How its Made
We use computer software (GIS) and elevation data to model how much water will flow through each river stretch to create these maps. Once printed onto a large-format transparency paper, the images are exposed using the traditional cyanotype process.
This analog photography technique makes each print develop uniquely, with differing hues of blue, brush strokes, and fringes around the print, so check out each one to find your favorite!
